Improvement in condition of a DMD patient S.A. after stem cell treatment

Patient: S.A.
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Country: Azerbaijan
Diagnosis: Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy
Dates of treatment: June 3-4, 2013 (3rd treatment)

Our son goes to school every day now. He gets up from bed on his own (leaning on his knees), dresses, washes and does other hygienic procedures on his own, though when he squats he needs to lean on something, or have someone to help him to get up. He eats well and doesn’t want to gain weight. He goes down the stairs on his own, but it is difficult for him to go up and he needs help. However, at school, where the stairs are shallow, he can go on his own, though with difficulty, leaning on the rail and lifting himself.

During the break (he is in school from 08:00 until 18:00), they usually play soccer where he also now participates as a goalkeeper. Sometimes he falls, but gets up with the help of his friends. Usually, he is always on the go at school except for when he has to sit at his desk during class. He also likes computers very much and he spends a lot of time in social networks and games in the evening. Compared to before, he falls less. According to our neurologist, the progress of the disease has slowed down and we were recommended to continue treatment. A. also sleeps better and can tolerate more physical loads. We also see lower CPK – from 4,500 U/l to 1,980 U/l.
