Stem cell therapy proved to be effective in treatment of primary and secondary anemia, including aplastic and hereditary anemias. An indication for transplantation of fetal stem cells in patients with an anemic syndrome is lack of response to standard treatment methods.
Positive results of fetal stem cell transplantation have been observed in treatment of anemia of various aetiology. They are especially demonstrative in cases of severe aplastic anemia. In all cases, high haemoglobin levels persisted for many years after 1–2 courses of fetal stem cell transplantation.
