Features of Embryonic Stem Cell Transplantation
Embryonic stem cell transplantation has valuable advantages in comparison with Transplantation of other kinds of stem cells (adult, cord blood, animal cells).
ESCT allows to avoid histocompatibility problems.
It is well known that histocompatibility has always been regarded as stumbling-block of Transplantology, causing rejection of transplanted organs, bone marrow and cord blood stem cells, etc, thus requiring special measures aimed at suppression of the recipient's immune system. With ESCT, it is possible to avoid any side effects related to histocompatibility and ensure engraftment, reproduction, and development of transplanted cells for many months and years without immunosuppression.
ESCT application ensures both target effects of cell pools and systemic effects in human body.
In addition to targeted cell effects predicted and described by numerous researchers, ESCT features the capability of exerting powerful systemic effects related to psychoemotional sphere, physical activity, immune system, homeostasis and functioning of internal organs, achieved via regulatory systems of the recipient's body.
Regulatory influence of recipient's body allows for achievement of precise specialization of curative effects of embryonic stem cells, the recipient's condition taken into consideration.
Each type of stem cells produces certain specific effects. Human regulatory systems, controlling the transplanted cells, guide the development and specialization of those cells in compliance body needs, thereby ensuring precise specialization of clinical effects.
Observed curative effects were attained without bioengineering.
We use only natural tissues without any interference with gene engineering methods.
Duration of effects provided by ESCT amounts to months and years.
Duration of ESCT curative effects is not comparable with that of most medicinal preparations. ESCT curative effects increase during first 1 - 2 months after transplantation, followed by long-term effects (6 - 8 months - 2 -3 years) with slight variations. In some diseases, engraftment probably stays for the lifetime period. The results of several ongoing observations show that in some cases of aplastic anemia, the duration of engraftment exceeds 5, 7 and 9 years.
Examination and treatment usually take 2 - 5 days.
Treatment is carried out on inpatient and outpatient basis, each particular case taken into consideration. ESCT procedure does not differ much from administration of regular medicianal preparations.
Modern embryonic stem cell therapy is a recent advancement of biology and medicine, good clinical results, and additional contribution to routine treatment of many diseases, showing effects, not achievable by any other modern methods.
When performed by qualified and trained personnel, ESCT has very few contraindications. It is a very powerful and efficient weapon that cannot be stopped after being launched. Simplicity and clarity can be attributed to the idea rather than the method. It should be kept in mind, that it took several millennia to switch from the idea of blood transfusion to a reliable clinical method that was applied only at the end of the last century.
It was possible to work out simple administration procedure that is no different from administration of regular medicinal preparations, as regarded by patients.
Till present, observed were no side effects, notwithstanding limited list of contraindications.
