AIDS (HIV infection)
Embryonic Tissues Center "EmCell" under scientific guidance of Professor Alexander Smikodub has developed an Embryonic Stem Cell Transplantation-based method for treatment of AIDS (HIV Infection).
As you may be aware, treatment of AIDS comprises two major points:
- control of HIV virus,
- restoration of the patient's immune status and general state.
While in the direction of virus control, considerable progress has been made, but no efficient means is available in the second direction, i.e. immune status restoration.
The above method allows the immune status of an organism to be restored substantially and quickly. Significant amelioration of clinical course is observed in AIDS patients. In case of HIV infection, this method promotes prevention or substantial delay in the development of the clinical picture of AIDS and AIDS-associated complex.
According to out experience (A.Smikodub, E. Pylypchak, A.Novitskaya, 1993 - 2000) significant effects were observed both in clinical course and laboratory indices.
Duration of the effects provided by each treatment session ranges from several months to between 1 to 2 years. Positive dynamics of both laboratory indices of the immune system and, which is especially important, of the clinical picture, are observed after each course of Embryonic Stem Cell Transplantation. Repeated courses of Embryonic Stem Cell Transplantation permit to substantially delay the fatal outcome of the disease.
Application of Embryonic Stem Cell Transplantation according to the elaborated method causes no immune conflict, and combines the advantages of living cells transplantation with simple and safe use of a regular preparation for intravenous administration.
In terms of manifestation of the curing effect, this method has no equals among existing methods of AIDS treatment.
United Antiretroviral Therapy and Embryonic Stem Cell Transplantation may be used together to achieve the maximum effective treatment of AIDS (HIV infection).
