2. Hemopoietic cells of human fetal liver in treatment of cytostatic myelodepressio

Snigyr Nataliya, Smikodoub Alexander
Cell Therapy Clinic of National Medical University and Embryonic Tissues Center "EmCell"

Observed were 16 patients suffering from various solid tumors and receiving radiation and/or intensive polychemotherapy. All the patients manifested cytostatic myelodepression in the form of leukocytopenia, anemia, and less frequently thrombocytopenia. To restore hemopoiesis and to form antitumoral immunity, the use was made of hemopoietic cells of human fetal liver.

Transplanted were hemopoietic cells of human fetal liver obtained from the liver of one embryo aged 6 to 12 weeks, and cryopreserved under a program with dimethylsulfoxide. Prenatal and fetal diagnostics and tests for bacterial sterility were carried out. Such indices were determined as CPU GM, CFU GEMM, and CD34. Hemopoietic cells of human fetal liver were administered intravenously, drop-by-drop.

After transplantation, syndrome of the early posttransplantation state improvement was observed in patients: weariness decreased, appetite improved, body temperature normalized.

Amounts of leukocytes and thrombocytes in peripheric blood increased on the 5th to 7th day after transplantation. Amounts of hemoglobin and erythrocytes restored more slowly, after 7 to 14 days.

Transplantation of hemopoietic cells of human fetal liver permitted to carry out full-scale treatment of patients. Subsequent cytostatic therapy caused less pronounced myelodepression. Patients required hemo transfusion and taking antibiotics less than before.
